Everyone is talking about ChatGPT, but how does it really help me in everyday life? How about a little help writing SEO content for your website - conveniently with a click in the Contao backend? Good page titles and descriptions are real added value, also for the users of your website. Contao has integrated a Google search preview directly into the backend, where you can see directly how the page title and description combine in the search result.
Big simplification with one small disadvantage: you still have to write these two SEO meta contents yourself.
The "almost-there" solution: an extension for Contao
Placed under this SEO preview there are now 2 buttons “Create SEO title” and “Generate SEO description”. Both send the content of the page to ChatGPT (or the programming interface behind it) and receive suggestions back that can be checked directly in Contao.
The suggestions are not always perfect, and sometimes 2-3 attempts are necessary to get an appealing text suggestion. A few gentle adjustments to straighten facts or make writing style adjustments and the content is ready. Massive time savings included, and the fun only costs a few cents per click.
This cannot replace a good SEO content strategy, but the first 80% of the hurdle is overcome - from "no SEO content" to "usably filled" in just a few minutes.
Small bonus
Content comes in many forms, which is why we have just optimized the extension again and added a very practical function for us (and hopefully others): generating titles and descriptions now also works in the Contao News extension. This means that news, blog posts and other content created via the news module can be provided with helpful meta texts just as easily as the classic page content.
Sounds good, I want it - but how?
The extension is published as open source on Github, but can also be installed much more conveniently via the Contao Manager or the console.
